One month already...

Woah!! Long time never update blog liao... that's how busy I am lor.. :( Unlike Riyadh where after work simply got nothing to do, but here I work so hard... Hehehe.. everywhere I go, I also work so hard one lah... :P Langkawi is a nice place, still relatively untouch and retains lots of natural beauty. It's still very kampung kampung but yet we can still get what we want most of the time. Not sure how long I'll be here, but I'm sure I'll be spending some good time roaming around and visiting the neighbouring islands and of course sneak a trip to Thailand once in a while.... :)

The nearest Thai border town-Satun is just a 45 min ferry ride away, and Hatyai is just another 2 hours by van, so it'll be interesting to visit the Thai border during the weekends. Work here is tough actually, but it's okay lah, keeps me busy. But I still like Maldives, itching to dive again...

Close encounter of the cow kind

Phew!! What a busy week!! Realised I haven't updated this blog for one week liao... Had to oversee the inventory count past two days and finally when it's all over this afternoon. I heave a sigh of relieve and went back to my room, took a shower and decided to roam island of Langkawi. Renting a car here is cheap, RM50 and you have the Proton Wira for 24 hrs, very good deal :)

Those who know me will know that I like to drive. It's really a pleasure driving in Langkawi cos the island is scenic and besides the town area in Kuah, traffic is minimal. But driving may not be as smooth along the roads in the rural area, cos you have to watch out for cows crossing, monkeys running across the roads etc. There are signboards warning motorists of potential animal hazards but truly experiencing one incident is so comical :P

On my way back to the resort around 10pm, (10pm very dark liao, cos no street lamps here mah) along one of the roads, there was this herd of cows crossing the road!! Don't know why 10pm liao, the cows still don't want to sleep and must cross the road at that hour!! Anyway, I slowed down as I was approaching them and there was this silly one that for don't know what reason decided to stay in the middle of the road. I stopped, waited for it, inches forward and the stupid cow still doesn't want to move. NB!! I flashed the headlights at it, horn at it, silly cow just turned and looked at me!! I inches forward a little more, horned and finally it turned and took its own sweet time and gelak gelak back to join the herd. Silly Cow!! :P

Pasar Malam

means 'Night Market' in Melayu. When I was a little boy, still cute cute that time, I've always liked to go to the Pasar Malam in the neighbourhood. I'm always able to find something that I like to eat or something that I can play. Pasar Malam are in abundance in Langkawi, almost evey other day, there'll be some place in the kampung or town area having one. And the night market here always promises lots of food and lots of bargains. And they're really cheap cheap... and I've been eating all the kueh kueh and have been eating satay almost every night!! Kekekeke.... even the tau huey also sedap sia, better than the one at Rochor road and Geylang lorong 8....

And for those interested, the pics of the beautiful Four Seasons Resort Langkawi is uploaded in the webshots gallery...

Eyes of the Soul

Coming Home - Martia Nelson

My greatest teacher was the experience of living in split realities: personality and true self.

Personality is our daily companion, our conscious self that sees the world through the eyes of limitation and dutifully keeps us informed about what we can and cannot do.

True self, on the other hand, patiently stands by, offering the unwavering knowledge that a state of vibrant well-being and unlimited possibility is our true nature, a birthright that can be lived if we choose to do so.

True self simply refers to the aspect of our being that is completely aware of its expanded nature no matter what we may be experiencing at the time.

Whenever we feel constrained, fearful, unworthy, inadequate or anything we deem to be negative, we have identified with our personality. We can always choose to view the same situation from the perspective of our soul.

"As a Witness, you begin to discover that you are not that which you have been observing; you are not those things that you have been noticing about your body. Instead, you are the noticer."

Love song for Vampire

Come into these arms again
And lay your body down
The rhythm of this trembling heart
Is beating like a drum

It beats for you, it bleeds for you
It knows not how it sounds
For it is the drum of drums
It is the song of songs

Once I had rarest rose
That ever deigned to bloom.
Cruel winter chilled the bud
And stole my flower too soon.

Oh loneliness, oh hopelessness
To search the ends of time
For there is in all the world
No greater love than mine.

Love, oh love, oh love
Still falls the rain (still falls the rain)
Love, oh love, oh, love
Still falls the night
Love, oh love, oh love
Be mine forever (be mine forever)
Love, oh love, oh love

Let me be the only one
To keep you from the cold
Now the floor of heaven's lain
With stars of brightest gold

They shine for you, they shine for you
They burn for all to see
Come into these arms again
And set this spirit free

Rush Hour

For the past one year, I've been literally staying at the workplace. There are good and bad, of course. Good is you don't have to wake up so early, your workplace is just minutes away, can go back 'home' after lunch to snake for half an hour, no problem working late cos no need to wait for taxi or bus, not having to worry about traffic jams. There are the negative sides, such as your staff or your colleagues will 'disturb' you after office hours or weekends, you tend to stay late in the office, you also forgot about keeping some personal time for yourself....

I'm beginning to forget how a rush hour in the morning is like :)

Imagine you come back from a long hard day at work in the evening, you sit by your balcony with a cup of tea, and looking at this.....

My home for the next few months

Arrived in Langkawi on Sunday noon, and first thing was to whizzed off to the 天天来 coffe shop to eat the famous CKT (char kway teow)..... wah, the taste of CKT- heaven ah! :)

Checked in and before I mess up the room, quickly took some pictures of the room I'll be staying for the next 6-8 months. This is the view I have from my room, overlooking the beach and the sea, and the sun is setting just in front of me... but today was a little hazy, so the pics do not turn out as I would like them to... but I've got the next few months to get some good shots.

They say you measure how good a resort is by looking at the bathroom and well, take a look at my bathroom:

This is the 鸳鸯戏水 dug-in tub in the bathroom complete with aromatic incense and all kinds of romantic stuff... but now no 鸳鸯, only water buffalo :P

And the view from the 鸳鸯戏水 tub,

Nice right? The problem I have is the sliding glass doors, I have to remember to close the curtains before I go for shower, otherwise, will be free show for all cos I always come out from the shower in my birthday suit :P

The photos only tells very little of the resort, come see it with your eyes and you'll fall in love with the place... I did :)

Off I go....

Confirmed and stamped [APPROVED]. Flying out to Langkawi this weekend!! Just when I was beginning to be comfortable with this place, I'm zip to another location liao... Hahaha... this time die! Practically living off my suitcase since the Tsunami incident and when I was back in Singapore preparing for Riyadh, I packed in mainly 'winter clothings' in anticipation for the chilly Arabian nights, now I'm off to a sunny country. No suitable clothes to wear... siao liao :(

Luckily it's still quite a self sufficient island, I should be able to get T-shirts, shorts etc. The only thing missing are my diving barang barang - mask, snorkels etc and also my camera tripod, lens etc... Hmmm.. maybe I'll try to sneak home during one of the weekend to grab these stuff :) Anyway, it's now nearer to home, so perhaps weekends can sneak back home to pak tor also... hehe :P

Langkawi - here I come :)

Love is all around

I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Love is all around me
And so the feeling grows

It's written on the wind
It's everywhere I go, oh yes it is
So if you really love me
Come on and let it show

You know I love you, I always will
My mind's made up by the
way that I feel
there's no beginning,
therell be no end
cause on my love you can depend

I see your face before me
as I lay on my bed
I kinda get to thinking
of all the things you said, oh yes I did
You gave your promise to me and I
gave mine to you
I need someone beside me
in everything I do, oh yes I do

You know I love you, I always will,
my mind's made up by the
way that I feel
there's no beginning,
there'll be no end
'cause on my love you can depend

Got to keep it moving

Oh It's written in the wind
oh everywhere I go, yeah, oh well
so if you really love me, love me, love me
come on and let it show

March-ing On

"I love you, I love you even when you're sick and you look disgusting."

That's a line taken from the movie 'Love Actually'. I was watching it on TV and realised... hmm... our Singapore version (even the R(A) version) censored A LOT!! Especially the scenes with the two porn stars... kekeke... :P Anyway, it's a nice movie, Love actually is all around :)

Well, into March 2005 and one month in Riyadh already, just as I was slowly settling in and getting used to the boring life here, things change. One phone call and a few emails today, and the next thing I know - I'll be on my way to Langkawi!! The resort in Langkawi is opening very soon and they needed help, so off I go to help them for a few months. It was really a decision made at short notice and I'll be flying to Langkawi next week.

Well, not that I like it in Riyadh and do not want to leave, but I'm just a little 'buay song' cos I was not given any choice. :( Well, maybe that's life, I'll just look at it as an opportunity for me to learn something new.

"Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gonna get."

Somewhere over the rainbow...

It was pouring today in Riyadh, hmm.. wonder where all the water come from? Anyway, after the heavy downpour, this is what I saw... I quickly ran back to my room, grab my camera and race back to the office to snap these pics...
