Mt Gunung Raya

Mt Gunung Raya is one of the two taller peaks in the island of Langkawi, with the highest point at 850 metres above sea level. You don't really have to climb the mountain, you can actually drive up there, just like driving up Mt Faber or Genting highlands but it takes a much longer time than Mt Faber but a shorter time than Genting highlands.

It was a gloomy Sunday morning, after sending Cheryl to work, me and Weay decided to go up Gunung Raya to take some pictures. The drive up there was uneventful, the slope was rather gentle, about 20 degrees inclination. The happening thing was that once we reached the top, the car died on us :( We tried ways to restart it but to no avail, it was an auto-gear car, so push-start was out of the question. After several attempts, we decided to just leave the car alone and call for help.

While waiting, we did what we came up here for-taking pictures. Not exactly nice to take pictures on a gloomy and hazy day, but we make do with whatever there is. Help finally came but the mechanics were unable to start the car either. So in the end, we left the car on the mountain top and came down the mountain.:P

We actually planned to visit the Seven Wells waterfall after this but then no mood liao... Maybe next time, we should really climb a mountain instead of driving.... :)

Pirates!!! But I'm happy.... :)

Well, not exactly pirates but, pirated VCDs :) And that's how I got to watch Star Wars III and became a happy man again :)

Of course watching on my laptop is nothing compared to the big screen with all the nice sound efects, but it'll do for now.... So sad, Anaki fell to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader, and all the loose ends are tied up and ready for the original trilogy....

Wonder if George Lucas is going to make Episode VII to IX.... hmm.....

No silverware for Man U

The weekend continue to be miserable for me cos my favourite team lost the FA Cup final and ended a disappointing season without any Trophies :( Man U was clearly the better team than Arsenal, played better football and have the lion's share of possession, even hit the woodwork twice!! But at the end of the day, they still went away empty handed after the penalty shootout. :(

Well, that's football, like we always say - the ball is round, anything can happen!! :P

Hopefully Man U can do better next season.

A sad day

Today is a sad day in my life.... :(

It's the premiere of Star Wars: Episode III and I'm stuck on an island with no cinema. :( Haizzz... waited for the movie but unfortunately couldn't have a chance to see it. Just hope it is still screening when I had a chance to go back to Singapore. In this Episode, Anakin finally fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader. It will be interesting to see the duel between Master and Padawan, and probably the other interesting light saber duel will be the one between Yoda and the Darth Sidius.

It is amazing to see the evolution of computer graphics and their application in the big screen. Back in the original Star Wars series, Yoda was just a puppet, but now with CGI, he's real life and wielding a light saber with speed and power. I guess there will come one day when real life actors will no longer be needed for movie production....

Busy week

Finally completed a busy week of first real month end closing. Food cost and beverage cost were of concerns and it was a big relieve when these two were out of the way. The rest were basically getting things to work and balancing the figures. Took quite a while but finally all was in order, late for owner and corporate submission but no choice. Rather have the figures late than giving wrong financials which are misleading.

Actually had plans to go back to Singapore this weekend but unfortunately did not materialise, so hopefully can try again to go back next week. Star Wars III screening this week, looks like I'll probably missed it :( But at least the news about Cheryl staying in Langkawi is a welcomed one :)

May Day!

1 May 2005. So fast it's May already... This month will try to find time to return to Singapore, because...... STAR WARS III. Waited 3 years for this movie liao.... hopefully can find time to go back.

Quite busy recently, month end closing and have to close two sets of books, but still alright lah, cos I get to learn the two new systems and I can apply the knowledge when I get back to Kuda Huraa for opening at the end of the year. But until then, I'll continue to be stuck in this part of the world. But I do not mind cos now I got a really nice company :)
