Macau Tower - by day, by night

From where I live, I can see Macau Tower... on a clear day, that is..

Everyday, I travel by the Sai Van bridge from Taipa to Macau to work... 5 mins drive, 7 km. And back the same way... 5 mins drive, 7 km. Very 'far'!! In the Maldives, I use to walk 1 min to work, 100 metres :P kekeke... can't complain lah... In Singapore, it was 25 mins drive, 17 km... :(

Typhoon Neoguri - I came, I blow and I go

So, Typhoon Neoguri lasted only less than 24 hours, although it went up to warning level 8, by evening, the stand-down signal was given and by Sunday morning, it a was a clear and bright sky. it was the clearest day I've ever seen in Macau!! Not much damages was done except some young trees being brought down by the gusts of wind. The telecommunication system went down for a couple of hours, not significant to me but I'm sure during times like this, it would have caused a lot of inconveniences.

The best part of Typhoon Neoguri was the rain it brought!! Believe me when I say, our windows have never been cleaner!! :) We didn't bother to clean the outside of the wndows, and it was getting a little 'disgusting' and I was about to clean it once I have the weekend off... but now... looks like I don't have to for the next few months :P

And since it was such a clear day on Sunday, I, of course wouldn't let go of this opportunity to go out and take some photos!!

Typhoon Neoguri

First time encountering a typhoon... wonder how it's like... hmmm... During the monsoon season in Maldives, winds can go up to 35 km/h, but now at Typhoon warning 3, wind speeds can go up to 60 km/h!! Almost doubling that of the Maldives!

Let's see how 'bad' things will get in Macau with the typhoon.

Homeward bound...

This must have been the longest time taken to reach home.... Wanting to utilise the maximum time to be Singapore for the long weekend, and wanting to utilise the miles I've accumulated traveling to and fro Singapore during my tenure in the Maldives, I redeemed the miles for 2 one-way ticket from Hong Kong to Singapore on Singapore Airlines and book the return tickets via JetStar... some savings I thought... boy was I wrong...

It was an early morning flight from HK, so I there was no decent ferry connection to HKIA from Macau, so we decided to go to HKIA the night before... We started our journey at 7.30pm on Wednesday, took an hour ferry ride to HK, took a cab to HKIA, stayed overnight at the airport hotel, and then finally took the flight to Singapore, and arrived at T3 at 12 noon the next day! Phew, that was some journey... all done to just get one day extra in Singapore!! Land, Sea, Air - all 3 modes of transport were used! It's of course more expensive eventually, but I get an extra day in Singapore to visit Funan Centre to get my hard disk, Sim Lim Square to update stuff, Ikea to get household items, eat Katong Laksa, eat Bak Chor Mee, have dinner at Cheryl's place... was it worth it? You bet!! :)

But I won't do it again, unless I can get a good connection from Macau ferry terminal direct to HKIA... Or hopefully Tiger Airways or JetStar start adding early morning flights :)
